Electricity demand is set to double by 2050 as transport and heating depend more on electricity. At the same time, the Climate Change Act 2008 has committed the UK to cut its carbon emissions by at least 80% by 2050, and over the next 10 years 25% of the country’s existing generators (coal and nuclear) are due to close.

This has created a unique set of challenges to maintain a secure and constant energy supply.

Balancing the supply and demand of electricity efficiently is one such challenge. Our services help to address this and are vital to the low carbon energy infrastructure of the future.

DEMAND RESPONSE

Less CO2

Demand Response has the ability to reduce CO2 emissions by around 2 million tonnes a year.

Facilitating renewables

Renewables such as wind and solar power are an important part of the low carbon future, however given their unpredictability a more agile demand side solution is essential. Our services offer the perfect balancing solution to help ensure that the National Grid can manage the peaks and troughs in supply inherent in renewables.

Improved energy security

With the predicted growth in demand and the increasingly unpredictable nature of supply we are playing an active and important role in providing an alternative solution to maintaining balance on the National Grid.
