CASE STUDY

We have worked with Defra and IBM to demonstrate the potential to generate revenues and reduce carbon emissions from data centres, using our unique, energy demand management solutions.
By commercially optimising a data centre’s computer room air conditioning units our Open Dynamic Demand™ product helps to balance the supply and demand of electricity on the grid without impacting performance.
This straightforward solution generates new revenues for our customers, is simple to install and requires no behavioural change. Total UK data centre electricity consumption stands at about 8,500GWh a year, which equates to potential annual revenue of £10m and carbon savings of 200,000 tonnes per annum.
“Open Energi’s technology is a win-win situation, saving carbon emissions for “UK PLC” by adjusting power demand at times of fluctuation on the National Grid and avoiding the need to use carbon intensive power generation alternatives. As a consequence Open Energi receives revenue from National Grid to distribute to its customers.”
